fantasy is the impossible made probable. Science Fiction is the improbable made possible - Rod Serling, creator of The Twilight Zone

What is it? Where does it come from? Where is it going? What is it waiting for? What awaits it? Many only feel confused. The ground shakes, they do not know why and with what. Theirs is a state of anxiety; if it becomes more definite, then it is fear.

This is the first part of a newly started trilogy based on the Utopist dream – a place imaged but not realized.

Utopian Consciousness wants to look far into the distance, but ultimately only in order to penetrate the darkness so near it, of the just lived moment, in which everything that is both drives and is hidden from itself. In other words, we need the most powerful telescope, that of polished utopian consciousness, in order to penetrate precisely the nearest nearness. Ernst Bloch, The principle of hope

In history there have been plenty of interpretations of dance in the future. What is our, maybe less romantic point-of-view today, projection of things to come, more contemporary “showmantic” approach? Also we will be questioning the endless possibilities of the “what if’s” and our longing to be able to for-see. In contemporary dance discussions there are often discussions regarding “ what will come next”? In our practice, mixed with weightiness, lightheartedness and maybe an apocalyptic interpretation of how.

In this new work we will be working with German dramaturg and co-founder of Nordwind festival, Katja Kettner. The process started in combination with our performances and residence at Nordwind festival October 2009. The started project continues again with three residences/exchanges with Katja. First period is the 10th through the 23rd of May at Dock11/EDEN, Berlin
Second the 6th of September to the 19th of September Dock 11/EDEN, Berlin. Third, Katja to Stockholm the 25th of October to the 12th of November Konstnärsnämnden, Stockholm.

Where do we need our practice to take us? All things evolve, that is the nature of us, and things, but the question is whether we are receptive and active in the subtle repetitive changes. Showing the art of change.
